Random Normal Type Pokémon Generator
This generator picks a random Normal-type Pokémon from all 131 species that have Normal as one of their types, from Pidgey to Terapagos. 75 of them are pure Normal types, and the other 56 pair Normal with a second type. Every generation from Kanto to Paldea is included.
Normal-type Pokémon are often based on everyday animals, from rodents and birds to cats and cattle. Whether you want a new team member, a prompt for a drawing, or a trivia question, one click gives you a Normal-type Pokémon to work with.
Each result is the Pokémon's standard form. Regional forms, Mega Evolutions and other alternate forms that change a Pokémon's type are not included, so the list matches what you would find by searching the National Pokédex for Normal-type Pokémon. If you want any type at all, the Random Pokémon Generator covers the whole National Pokédex, and the generation generators let you stick to a single region.
The Normal type has been part of the series since the first games in Generation I. Knowing how it matches up against other types is the key to using Normal-type Pokémon well in battle. These are the current type-chart matchups:
Dual-type Pokémon combine the matchups of both their types, so a Normal-type Pokémon's second type can cancel out a weakness or double it.
A team built around Normal types needs teammates that can take the hits Normal can't. For each weakness, these types take reduced or no damage:
56 of the 131 Normal-type Pokémon have a second type. The most common partners are:
A second type changes a Pokémon's matchups, so two Normal types with different partners can need very different teammates.
How many Normal-type Pokémon each generation introduced:
Normal moves aren't super effective against any type, so Normal-type Pokémon usually rely on raw power, good stats or moves of their second type to deal big damage. Watch out for Ghost types, though: Normal moves have no effect on them at all, so keep a move of another type ready. On defence, Normal types are completely immune to Ghost moves, which makes them useful for switching in safely against those attacks. Remember that a Pokémon's own type gives matching moves a 50% power boost, so Normal types get the most out of Normal moves.
Every species with Normal as its first or second type, across all nine generations.
Pokémon whose only type is Normal. The remaining 56 are dual types.
Including Regigigas, Arceus, Meloetta.
The generator picks from this full list, in National Pokédex order. Each Pokémon has the same 1 in 131 chance on every roll. Dual-type Pokémon are listed under both of their types, so the 27 Normal/Flying Pokémon, for example, can also come up in the Flying-type generator.
