Random Ghost Type Pokémon Generator
This generator picks a random Ghost-type Pokémon from all 65 species that have Ghost as one of their types, from Gastly to Pecharunt. 16 of them are pure Ghost types, and the other 49 pair Ghost with a second type. Every generation from Kanto to Paldea is included.
Ghost-type Pokémon are drawn from spirits, folklore, haunted objects and the afterlife. Whether you want a new team member, a prompt for a drawing, or a trivia question, one click gives you a Ghost-type Pokémon to work with.
Each result is the Pokémon's standard form. Regional forms, Mega Evolutions and other alternate forms that change a Pokémon's type are not included, so the list matches what you would find by searching the National Pokédex for Ghost-type Pokémon. If you want any type at all, the Random Pokémon Generator covers the whole National Pokédex, and the generation generators let you stick to a single region.
The Ghost type has been part of the series since the first games in Generation I. Knowing how it matches up against other types is the key to using Ghost-type Pokémon well in battle. These are the current type-chart matchups:
Dual-type Pokémon combine the matchups of both their types, so a Ghost-type Pokémon's second type can cancel out a weakness or double it.
A team built around Ghost types needs teammates that can take the hits Ghost can't. For each weakness, these types take reduced or no damage:
49 of the 65 Ghost-type Pokémon have a second type. The most common partners are:
A second type changes a Pokémon's matchups, so two Ghost types with different partners can need very different teammates.
How many Ghost-type Pokémon each generation introduced:
Ghost moves hit Ghost, Psychic Pokémon for double damage, so a Ghost-type Pokémon is a strong pick whenever you expect to face those types. Watch out for Normal types, though: Ghost moves have no effect on them at all, so keep a move of another type ready. On defence, Ghost types are completely immune to Normal, Fighting moves, which makes them useful for switching in safely against those attacks. Remember that a Pokémon's own type gives matching moves a 50% power boost, so Ghost types get the most out of Ghost moves.
Every species with Ghost as its first or second type, across all nine generations.
Pokémon whose only type is Ghost. The remaining 49 are dual types.
Including Giratina, Hoopa, Lunala.
The generator picks from this full list, in National Pokédex order. Each Pokémon has the same 1 in 65 chance on every roll. Dual-type Pokémon are listed under both of their types, so the 10 Ghost/Grass Pokémon, for example, can also come up in the Grass-type generator.
