Random Fairy Type Pokémon Generator

Random Fairy-Type Pokémon

Togekiss
Pick a random Fairy-type Pokémon from all 64 Fairy types across nine generations. Great for monotype teams, type-locked runs, and trivia.

About the Random Fairy-Type Pokémon Generator

This generator picks a random Fairy-type Pokémon from all 64 species that have Fairy as one of their types, from Clefairy to Fezandipiti. 21 of them are pure Fairy types, and the other 43 pair Fairy with a second type. Every generation from Kanto to Paldea is included.

Fairy-type Pokémon draw on fairy tales, magic and whimsical creatures. Whether you want a new team member, a prompt for a drawing, or a trivia question, one click gives you a Fairy-type Pokémon to work with.

Each result is the Pokémon's standard form. Regional forms, Mega Evolutions and other alternate forms that change a Pokémon's type are not included, so the list matches what you would find by searching the National Pokédex for Fairy-type Pokémon. If you want any type at all, the Random Pokémon Generator covers the whole National Pokédex, and the generation generators let you stick to a single region.

Fairy Type Strengths and Weaknesses

The Fairy type was added in Generation VI, so some older Pokémon were given it later. Knowing how it matches up against other types is the key to using Fairy-type Pokémon well in battle. These are the current type-chart matchups:

When attacking with Fairy moves

  • Super effective against: Fighting, Dragon, Dark
  • Not very effective against: Poison, Steel, Fire
  • No effect on: none

When defending as a Fairy type

  • Weak to: Poison, Steel
  • Resists: Fighting, Bug, Dark
  • Immune to: Dragon

Dual-type Pokémon combine the matchups of both their types, so a Fairy-type Pokémon's second type can cancel out a weakness or double it.

Building a Fairy-Type Team

Covering the weak spots

A team built around Fairy types needs teammates that can take the hits Fairy can't. For each weakness, these types take reduced or no damage:

  • Poison attacks: resisted by Poison, Ground, Rock, Ghost, Steel
  • Steel attacks: resisted by Steel, Fire, Water, Electric

Common type pairings

43 of the 64 Fairy-type Pokémon have a second type. The most common partners are:

  • Fairy/Psychic: 8 Pokémon
  • Fairy/Steel: 6 Pokémon
  • Fairy/Grass: 5 Pokémon

A second type changes a Pokémon's matchups, so two Fairy types with different partners can need very different teammates.

Tips for battling with Fairy types

Fairy moves hit Fighting, Dragon, Dark Pokémon for double damage, so a Fairy-type Pokémon is a strong pick whenever you expect to face those types. On defence, Fairy types are completely immune to Dragon moves, which makes them useful for switching in safely against those attacks. Remember that a Pokémon's own type gives matching moves a 50% power boost, so Fairy types get the most out of Fairy moves.

How to Use the Fairy-Type Pokémon Generator

  • Monotype teams: Roll six times to build an all-Fairy team, then work out how to cover its weaknesses to Poison, Steel.

  • Trivia & quizzes: Ask friends to name the result's second type, its evolution or the generation it debuted in.
