Random Electric Type Pokémon Generator

Random Electric-Type Pokémon

Luxio
Pick a random Electric-type Pokémon from all 69 Electric types across nine generations. Great for monotype teams, type-locked runs, and trivia.

About the Random Electric-Type Pokémon Generator

This generator picks a random Electric-type Pokémon from all 69 species that have Electric as one of their types, from Pikachu to Raging Bolt. 35 of them are pure Electric types, and the other 34 pair Electric with a second type. Every generation from Kanto to Paldea is included.

Electric-type Pokémon are often rodents, eels, sheep and machines that store or generate electricity. Whether you want a new team member, a prompt for a drawing, or a trivia question, one click gives you a Electric-type Pokémon to work with.

Each result is the Pokémon's standard form. Regional forms, Mega Evolutions and other alternate forms that change a Pokémon's type are not included, so the list matches what you would find by searching the National Pokédex for Electric-type Pokémon. If you want any type at all, the Random Pokémon Generator covers the whole National Pokédex, and the generation generators let you stick to a single region.

Electric Type Strengths and Weaknesses

The Electric type has been part of the series since the first games in Generation I. Knowing how it matches up against other types is the key to using Electric-type Pokémon well in battle. These are the current type-chart matchups:

When attacking with Electric moves

  • Super effective against: Flying, Water
  • Not very effective against: Grass, Electric, Dragon
  • No effect on: Ground

When defending as a Electric type

  • Weak to: Ground
  • Resists: Flying, Steel, Electric
  • Immune to: none

Dual-type Pokémon combine the matchups of both their types, so a Electric-type Pokémon's second type can cancel out a weakness or double it.

Building a Electric-Type Team

Covering the weak spots

A team built around Electric types needs teammates that can take the hits Electric can't. For each weakness, these types take reduced or no damage:

  • Ground attacks: resisted by Flying, Bug, Grass

Common type pairings

34 of the 69 Electric-type Pokémon have a second type. The most common partners are:

  • Electric/Flying: 5 Pokémon
  • Electric/Steel: 4 Pokémon
  • Electric/Bug: 4 Pokémon

A second type changes a Pokémon's matchups, so two Electric types with different partners can need very different teammates.

Electric-type Pokémon by generation

Tips for battling with Electric types

Electric moves hit Flying, Water Pokémon for double damage, so a Electric-type Pokémon is a strong pick whenever you expect to face those types. Watch out for Ground types, though: Electric moves have no effect on them at all, so keep a move of another type ready. Remember that a Pokémon's own type gives matching moves a 50% power boost, so Electric types get the most out of Electric moves.

How to Use the Electric-Type Pokémon Generator

  • Monotype teams: Roll six times to build an all-Electric team, then work out how to cover its weaknesses to Ground.
  • Type-locked challenge runs: Only catch the Electric-type Pokémon the generator picks for your next playthrough or Nuzlocke.
  • Trivia & quizzes: Ask friends to name the result's second type, its evolution or the generation it debuted in.
  • Drawing prompts: Sketch the Pokémon you get, or redesign it in a different art style.
  • Gym leader roleplay: Build a themed Electric-type gym team for a tabletop game or fan story.
